It takes a decent chunk of time and brain-power for me to be concise here, which is partly the reason I don't title my posts.

BUT. If I were to title this post it would go something like:

The best present for someone who has just moved into a (bigger) house. Thank you Freedom

Recently Freedom Furniture invited me to peruse their new range armed with a 500 buckeroo gift voucher. As my faux-title would suggest, this is gold to anyone who has just moved house. A decent hunk of money 500 clams is, and for me there were three options how to spend it.

A. Put towards this gorgeous sofa. (er... not sure where the remaining funds would come from though).
B. Finally get a comfy computer chair.
C. Get all the little bits and bobs that I really need (want) but never get because buying them in one hit is not financially justifiable.

So here are a few corners of our new place featuring the goodies from option C.

Breton Hat Rack. (I'll take a moment to boast here that I assembled this all by myself with no man-help).

The sunny entrance way, which until recently was absolute chaos. I was sick of walking into a dumping ground so mustered up the motivation (and energy) to re-arrange it. The velvet cushion and lamp are from Freedom. The lamp is my favourite piece from their current season.

Living Room. Storage basket from Freedom. This will be used to collect all debris on the floor in case a quick tidy up is needed, either for guests or personal sanity.

The hilarious pink bathroom. Not visible here but the tap for the bath is actually a black porcelain fish head, which to me looks more like a wild pig. I was going to embrace the boudoir feel and keep it pink/black/white but BB adamantly selected this shower curtain (and surprisingly, the towels to match) so I let it be. Probably a bit more fun anyways. Shower curtain, towels and storage (laundry) basket from Freedom.

My little orange lamp is currently residing in the kitchen, because the fluorescent in there omits the most hideous – and audible – purple toned light in the world. So I picked up this lamp to pop next to my side of the bed. I chose yellow first before swapping for blue. I'm still not sure I made the correct decision. I'll also fess up here and say I relocated these owls and plant for the shot, because besides a changing pile of debris (and the lamp) there's nothing on the bedside table. Our bedroom is actually still a bit of a disaster zone.

So that's it. That's my wares. Thank you Freedom!

    2. That's a poster I bought at an exhibition about Chinese Design at the V&A (London) a long time ago. I don't think it would be available now – sorry!

  9. Anna, your new home looks unreal! I've been trying to buy some big colourful storage baskets here in Mexico ... but how could I get them home? I'm wondering - maybe if I used them as my hat storage and take them on as carry on. We seem to have bought a lot of hats. Ah! Kellie xx

  13. I think this is the best way to spend a $500 voucher - it is the small things that make such a difference. Everything looks gorgeous.
